Sandra M. Goulding, PhD, MPH

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Areas of Specialty:

I work with individuals experiencing a variety of general life stressors, including grief and loss, relationship issues, and other difficult life transitions. I also am well-trained in working with those who are also dealing with mental health disorders of their own or their loved ones, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, I have had a great deal of experience working with individuals and their loved ones or professional care providers who are dealing with palliative and hospice phases of care to address life altering and/or limiting illnesses and injuries.

Approach:

As an integrative clinician, I believe treatment is not "one size fits all" and value using a variety of psychological techniques to meet the unique needs of those that I work with. While trained in multiple evidence based therapies (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure therapy,...), my basic approach is person centered and strengths-based.

I also believe that collaboration is key.  This means that I will work together with you to better understand your unique history and current life circumstances, to prioritize concerns, and to determine effective and personally meaningful steps for you to take toward your goals...while aiming to both reduce distress and encourage personal growth along the way.

Services and Availability:

I provide individual and couples therapy as well as psychological assessment as an out-of-network provider for preteens (ages 11-13), adolescents (ages 14-19), and adults (all ages). Because of my work with family members of and providers for individuals with mental and physical health concerns, I also provide these services for other mental health providers (including graduate students). Hours of availability are on weekdays from 8am to 6pm. However, given my proximity to Emory campus, I can provide earlier hours for those who would like to come in before their day-shift or after their night-shift.
